What to expect

  • Classes are suitable for both complete beginners and those who already have experience of meditation.
  • Sessions begin with a simple guided meditation to help stop distracting thoughts and calm the mind.
  • This is followed by a talk on a specific topic relevant to daily life and another guided meditation based on the talk.
  • Seating is in chairs but you are welcome to sit on a cushion if you prefer.
  • Classes are self contained so you can come to a whole course or just drop in when you can. No need to book.
  • Please stay on for a cup of tea afterwards!

Making Progress ~ What We Should Know; What We Should Abandon
Guided meditations to increase the depths of our experience on the spiritual path. The meditation is in conjunction with 'Heart Jewel' chanted puja - the essential daily practice of Kadampa Buddhism which enables us to connect with our pure potential and gain deep experience in meditation. These evenings are a little different to our other classes on this page. You are very welcome to come along and try them out.

In depth classes at Pure Land Centre

 

 

foundation programme studying 'how to understand the mind'

Wednesday evenings 7-9pm
@ Pure Land Buddhist Centre with Kelsang Chonyi

  • This is an enrolled course, ideal for those who have already attended some of our other classes and who wish to take the next step. The Foundation Programme provides a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism and is a wonderful way to deepen your knowledge and practical experience of Buddhism.
  • We are currently studying the profound text 'How to Understand the Mind' by Geshe Kelsang. FP classes are £35 a month which also includes entry to all our drop-in classes and most other events. Concessions are available.
